Today we blended our auction lot for Premiere Napa Valley and tasted through our 2017 cabs. Loving what we have in barrel - every vintage has its own unique personality but our 17’s are similar to 14’s at this point. Anyone else tasting through now?

Brrrr - damn cold out there this morning. We bottled our 2017 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay at the winery and it was 33 degrees at the start.

We have this one in our tasting room for our white wines. Keeps a consistent temperature and the racks are durable. It holds almost the number of bottles advertised (none of them do). And we’re done... harvest started for us on 9/7 and ended today with our last pick of cabernet sauvignon at Stagecoach Vineyard.

We are in the home stretch - down to three remaining vineyards. Our Sonoma Coast chardonnay will come in on sunday followed next week by our cabernets from Yates (Mt. Veeder) and Stagecoach (Pritchard Hill). Fruit looks and tastes amazing - way too early but it could be another 2016.

The forecast is now calling for more rain than it did a few days ago but still only .3 in Napa. Hope this doesn’t change again. Looks like the heavier rainfall may be going south with Santa Barbara getting over an inch tuesday into wednesday.

We are picking our first cabernet sauvignon fruit on Monday (9/24) from Rutherford. We picked this same vineyard/block last year on 9/14.

Our Rutherford Cab is at 21.5 and our Rutherford Sauv Blanc is at 22.1. Probably another 10 days or so before anything comes in. That’s all I have measurements on thus far.
