I read a story where a couple had called the cops because they thought there was a gas leak. Turns out the neighbors were enjoying a durian. Perhaps the tasting note is alluding to a petrol flavor/smell?

They had this at the Iwilei Costco in Honolulu so I picked up two. 23 bucks. Read some reviews and went back for 4 more. Notice they still have some today. Back for more?

SC Chard can be very good but Chablis? No. Don't get the sea spray, kimmeridgian chalk or saltiness.

I wasn't as enthralled with it. Found it a little bland and not more-ish. Seemed insipid and lacking. Where was the sea spray. Where was the Kimmeridgian lift? I prefer the Brocard Cuvee St. Claire VV for a few bucks more. YMMV

2005 Bouchard Savigny-Les-Beaune. I liked its smokey earthy elements with cherry fruit in the background. My wife, not so much. Ah well,more for me!

Have to admit, an '01 Montmains half a dozen years ago (Fevre) turned me to the chablis side. Unfortunately, I've had a number of premox from Fevre also to temper my enthusiasm.

And as a result, all the sister, brother and cousin offerings (Fonsalette,ect.) have seen remarkable increases in pricing. All worth it IMHO. I cherish the few bottles I have from this producer.

I bought an 11 bottle case of the '74 Spring Mountain at auction in the '80's and enjoyed every bottle immensely. Thanks for the notes on an eclectic selection of wines.

I forgot which vintage, I believe 2009 I tried a bottle a couple of years ago and it was a sugary sweet no. Consequently donated the remaining bottles to my son's school auction along with 2006 Coudelet de Beaucastel.

Don't get me wrong, the 2005 Coudelet is drinking very nicely but the 2006, Yech.

I used to crawl on my hands and knees in the mom & pop shops out on the avenues of SF in search of the older Inglenook Cask wines in the early eighties. Those were some great wine experiences.

wasn’t either 84 or 85 a Parker 100 back in the day? First RP 100 pointer for CA Cab was the 1985 Groth Reserve Cab.
