I am a huge fan of everything he does from Whistling Ridge. It is a very special site and seems perfect for his style.

Did you get to try any vintage by vintage comparisons?

Re: Where should we go in Italy?

Alan, I didn't spend the time reading everyone's comments, but we spent some time this summer in Italy. I will say that I really liked Livorno on the coast. We feel like a 2-3 day trip does it justice. Saying that, we spent a week in Rome doing the major tourist things and just feel like we need to ...

Francois Gay Burgundy For Sale

I have a mixed case of each vintage for sale of Francois Gay. Burgundy Wine Company and Italian Wine Merchants have offered his wines in the past in NYC, maybe others. Based on those prices, these are a super deal. Locally, in Portland, they have been a secret for almost 20 years. If you need scores...

There are a lot of half bottles from Oregon in that auction. The Cuvee J bottles would be an awesome pick up if you could get them at a fair price.

Re: Do you typically drink Oregon pinot 10+ years past vintage?

I am always up for an aged Oregon Pinot Noir Tasting. I used most of my old wines when I had the shop, but I know there are wines from the early 2000s hiding somewhere. I know I have a lot of one offs if it was a small group. Heck I could do older Chardonnay to start. Personally, any producer I like...

I dropped from all lists about 3-4 years ago. I only recently joined Matello. Mainly because I consider Marcus a friend and would rather he have my money. I will add Walter Scott soon. If Envoyer is a mailing list, I’m guilty. Otherwise I am loyal to a couple of retailers. In the long run I have bee...

I would second Boneyard Brewing. There new location is nice and I find their beers to be high quality. I would add to the list seeing the Bend Elks, if you or your family like baseball. It is a wood bat league for college players or new grads. We stay in Black Butte and always make a trip in to Bend...

I used to store my wine at an off site storage. It was treated like a storage unit business. There is one time that I know of when they couldn't find a client. Michael The issue with the Lopez Rose is that they stopped making it for a moment. It’s popularity skyrocketed when The NY Times wrote an article about the winery and rose.
