Re: Keto diet tips

Keto works well for me but so does a well balanced low cal diet and exercising a few days per week. I use an app called MyNetDiary to keep track of caloric intake and calories spent in exercise and baseline metabolism. I can achieve higher level of ketosis with a strict keto diet but it’s kinda nice...

Re: Cellar ceiling (cosmetic)

A thin layer of wallpaper glue applied with a 4 inch wide sponge roller worked for us. Removing the labels is time consuming so in the end I found many of the labels online, photoshopped them to the correct size and printed on an ink-jet printer.

Re: Austin Hope, anyone?

I don't see much talk about Austin Hope around here. Curious why that is. I love it, but then I'm a newb to the world of wine. Every time we have one of their wines, whether it's their Cab, Cab Reserve, Mourvedre, Liberty School, Harvester (especially the Estrella) or Troublemaker, my wife and I al...

I’ll second Turnbull, and you might want to look for Chappellet, Switchback Ridge, Realm and Robert Foley wines from Angwin.

Re: Austin Hope, anyone?

It’s a reliable reasonably priced Cab to reach for when we want a big juicy “drinking” wine rather than a “thinking” wine with dinner e.g. a nice grilled steak and baked potato

Re: Which Champagne are you drinking?

We recently uncorked a bottle of 1990 Pommery Louise, definitely on the downslope of the curve for complex flavors but nonetheless enjoyable and interesting to compare with my tasting notes from a few years ago.

Re: Anyone still prefer Riedel’s Sommeliers series?

My favorite glass is a Riedel Somm Burgundy stem, I used to have a set but over the years have broken all but one - I would rather find it and wash it instead of reach for a different glass

Re: Wines with damaged labels...should they sell for a discount?

It depends on the purpose for which it is being purchased. If it's being purchased to drink, then "No," provided that the damaged label isn't indicative of handling or storage issues that might affect the quality/condition of the wine in the bottle. If it's being purchased as an investmen...

Discovering wineries while traveling

Have you ever been on vacation and discovered a winery or less known wine growing region that pleasantly surprises your palate? One example for me that comes to mind is Temecula Valley in Southern California. We were staying in Palm Springs and after visiting Joshua Tree National monument made our w...

Re: Your cellar's core strength?

I put into CellarTracker to sort by country, then by region, then by color. Took less time than it takes to write this post. Welcome to 2021. The main reason for my tracking system is NOT to post my inventory here on CT. Moreover I´m curious how you would use CT in MY natural underground cellar whe...

Re: Your cellar's core strength?

98% Red, of which about 50% is Bordeaux (average age 20 years) though the California Cabs, blends and Rhone style contingent is probably 40% and sees the most turnover by far. The other 8% reds are predominantly Italian and Rioja

Re: BerserkerDay 12 Master Thread/FAQ

Too bad wine purchases don't qualify for multiples on any card I have - 3x or 4x would be nice. I like the way you think! Of course some cards give up to 5x for gift card purchases, including Visa or MC gift cards, which can theoretically be used anywhere... I just discovered WB and am looking forw...
