I lived in Bakersfield from 1978 to 1991. We had "swamp coolers" when I got there. Basically trading cool humidity for dry heat. It really sucked when the temp got above about 95 or so. Of course it only did that for three or four months or so....

Can't help much on the cellar, but I've had some experience with crawl space issues. Humidity is the usual problem. If you are not having issues now, I would not be too concerned. Shared a bottle of #43 2018 Napa (Oakville/St. Helena) Cab with some Cab loving neighbors the other night. Everyone was impressed. Compared very favorably with another Napa Can that cost a lot more than #43. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name.

I was somewhat expecting the Chardonnay not to be ready, and I'm not disappointed with the wine. I'll give it more time, and open one of the OG N.16 Sauvignon Blanc instead. It's been a few months since I had one, but really loved it.

Just had a 135. decanted for about an hour. Didn't get much tannin, but a wonderful scent of of violets and dusky fruit. One of the best of the dn wines I've had. My wife, who is not a big wine fan, said "I like this."

I got the coupon from Cam, then overspent it on two Upper Prime Strips, one T-Bone, and a 40 oz Porterhouse. The last will be a meal this weekend. Of course any savings were blown getting a case of the mixed Walla Walla, and the Carignan. Really wanted 151, but just have too much.

A lot of states have changed the rules so you can buy direct from producers like wineries and brewers. When I lived in Vermont, you could sample beer over a counter at the brewery, but you had to go too a different area to buy it.

I've not had that happen yet with UPS. I have had shipments shown as delivered by UPS, when they were just shipped. Coding them wrong at pickup I guess.

As for showing best, of the three or four I've tried, my favorite has been 109, Fair Play Syrah.

No worries. Being in the South East makes it easy to forget the shipping goes through the Midwest. Cold nights here are in the upper 20s. That's why I don't live up North anymore!
