Re: Non-virtual post-shutdown gathering: Older Ridge, SF Bay Area, Sept-Oct 2020

Also, just to toss out suggestions - the Patriot Corner at Shoup Park in Los Altos might meet your criteria. Centrally located, free parking, restrooms, can be reserved in advance, grills, prep areas, picnic tables, etc. They do allow alcohol - but with a permit I believe. We must have someone capab...

Re: Non-virtual post-shutdown gathering: Older Ridge, SF Bay Area, Sept-Oct 2020

George - Jill and I would both like to attend. We have some older Ridge wines that meet your criteria. If someone has specific bottles they really want to see make an appearance, we are happy to fund the purchase of those instead - or as well. It just looks like a recipe for fun!

Re: Burt Williams dinner, SF Peninsula Divino Restaurant, Feb 26

So much thanks to George for herding the cats and pulling together an amazing dinner. And to Blake and Katie for their very generous contributions. And to the rest of the gang for bringing some wonderful juice to share in a very special setting! It will be hard to top this one!

Re: Burt Williams dinner, SF Peninsula Divino Restaurant, Feb 26

Wine and beakers and cash all pulled today. Also bringing my Durand. With all of these old bottles, we could probably use a couple of Durands. Did Divino clarify the situation with corkage? Thanks, Mark Durand in hand also Wonderful! Looking forward to seeing / meeting everyone tomorrow!

Re: See first post for who brings what: Burt Williams dinner, SF Peninsula Divino Restaurant, Feb 26

Yes, totally agree that we should all bring stems!
George - Thanks for checking on the corkage situation.
Are we all just ordering off the menu? Or is there a reduced group menu? Or a prix-fixe for our group?
We are taking Uber / Lyft both ways!

Re: Two weeks to go, time to confirm: Burt Williams dinner, SF Peninsula Divino Restaurant, Feb 26

Confirming for myself and Jill Bibo. Have a 1991 Santa Cruz Mountains Vineyard Pinot that I would like to share. Can also bring Chardonnay / White Burgundy to start just to make sure we have enough wine! ;)

Re: Goodbye Burt Williams dinner, SF Peninsula, Feb or March

Mark thanks. Wednesdays are a possibility. I now sit back and wait for a consensus on date. Thanks George. Getting consensus on dates is a tough one, so I will understand whatever you choose. We are good for all Weds in Feb and Mar except Mar 18 and 25. For those dates, you can blame United Airline...

Thanks Craig... I am a sometimes visitor but very infrequent poster - esp. for someone who came over from Squires and joined WB in 2009! LOL!

Re: Goodbye Burt Williams dinner, SF Peninsula, Feb or March

George - Sounds great. Jill Bibo and I would like to join you for this celebration. We have a number of wines that meet your criteria and will sort through the cellar to offer up some specific options over the holidays. As for dates, Feb 4 and Mar 3, 17 and 24 would be out for us, but all other Tues...

Re: 2011 Sojourn Cellars Release Tasting - 09 Pinots and 08 Cabs

Here are my note's from the recent Palo Alto tasting with Craig. A very strong showing for Sojourn across the board! • 2009 Sojourn Cellars Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast A blend of three vineyards (Rogers Creek, Sangiacomo and Keller Estate) with a slightly lighter color and deft touch on the palate. The...

Re: TN’s – Sojourn Cellars Fall 2010 Release Wines, plus a few other Sojourn’s

After a day of cycling through rural Sonoma county, I was fortunate enough to make it back down to Redwood City on Sunday afternoon in time to catch the last 90 minutes of the Sojourn Cellars Fall Release party! Lots of familiar faces among the Sojourn crew and among those gathered to taste the wine...

Re: TN: Sunday Wine Lunch: Mature Burgs, Bordeaux, Rhone

Richard - Thanks for the great photos and write-up. Really enjoyed the lunch. The 1977 Spring Mountain was a bit of a lark, as Jonathan said he was "tired of Burgundy"..! I could not believe my ears, but swapped out my '85 Charmes-Chambertin at the last minute. Sorry to miss the VT at the end, but U...

Re: TN: April Fools' Blindtasting - 4 Decade Pairs ('70, '80, '90, '00)

Yes, nice tasting. Harder to pull apart the vintages than one might think. I did have the Dehlinger Pinot and the Chassagne Rouge #1 and #2. No surprise there. The Chassagne did not give off the typical "I am a Red Burg" cues for the first hour, but then it opened up and showed its true colors... Fu...

Re: TN: Sojourn Pre-Release Pinots and Cabs w/Craig Haserot

Once again, I really enjoyed the opportunity to taste the current line-up of Sojourn Wines with Craig. Zibibbo in Palo Alto really treated us well - lots of space, great service and very nice food - brought out at the right pace. My notes from the four 2008 Pinots and the 2007 Home Ranch Cabernet ar...

TN's: Sojourn Fall Release 2007 Pinots and 2006 Cabs

Thanks to Craig Haserot and the crew at Sojourn Cellars, my Palo Alto wine & dinner group had the opportunity to taste the line-up of Fall Release wines at our recent dinner tasting on Saturday night. As a group, we really enjoyed the wines and I thought it would be worth sharing my tasting notes. A...
