I think there is also the misconception that they can't pair with a lot of foods. I've had them with foie gras, oysters, serrano ham, lobster bisque, various cheeses, spicy food (asian dishes with ginger and scallions), spiced and salted nuts, duck magret in ginger broth (if I recall correctly), etc...

2018 Yannick Amirault Bourgueil Côte 50. Average. Slightest hint of funk. Mostly fruit with some bell pepper. Grippy tanins with little length or complexity. Easy to drink, easy to forget.

2018 Alain Gras St-Romain: quite enjoyable and open. Elegant nose of red berries and flowers (edited: + touch of élevage). The palate is all crunchy & sweet red berries. The tartness is offset by this sweet touch that offers a little roundness. Quite cheerful and easy to drink.

Day 2 on the Rully white: the acidity has slightly subsided giving more place to the fruit. A touch of smoke even appears on the nose. Even better on day 2. Next bottle, I will give it more air and time.
