It’s tough to definitively say what is too much acid or too little acid. Acid preferences and tolerances vary widely, especially within fans of riesling. One person’s too much acid may be another’s not enough and vice versa.

Looking forward to trying the 2020 version of it.

Without going on a diatribe about it, I find it tough to assign a numerical score to wines in any manner that I think would be consistent across time and different wine styles. I mostly find it useful in comparative situations like larger tasting with similar wines...

If memory serves correctly, the lettering is on the cap part of the cork, so you could read the lettering to verify disgorgement by just removing the foil without tampering with the cage or opening the bottle. But I'm not 100% on it

That sucks. Been through almost two cases of ’05 Defaix and haven’t found issues with any bottles. Haven’t had any ‘06s though. Hopefully your other bottles are in better shape

Given “I” is a combo of oak and steel that might be more up my alley in terms of richness. I was curious to check them out, but as I was looking at the tech sheet for “II” I noticed it had almost 8g of RS which threw me off a bit, but I’ll have to drink it and see.

I have at times reused boxes with styros that arrived to pack wines to send for storage and let them repack it there because I didn’t have any other boxes on hand. In those cases, there’s a FexEx/UPS label on it. Maybe Victor did something like that

That sucks. I’m always paranoid about stuff like this happening and avoid not being home when pickups happen. If I have to leave it at the front desk, I'll usually tape a piece of paper noting that’s its not for FedEx/UPS and stating who it’s for to avoid this kind of thing
