90 Points James Suckling for a $185 Cabernet...I'd recommend running far far away. Do you otherwise follow/respect Suckling's ratings? I am generally about "Suckling -8" so yes, if the only review I saw was Suckling's and it was 90 there is 0% chance I would buy it. I am no Suckling fan, but his ra...

Re: US to impose 25% tariff on European wine, cheese, etc.

Anyone have any idea what will happen when an American tourist comes back to the US with a couple cases of burgundy? In the past, there was no issue since the duty was collected on alcohol volume. Now I'm not sure what will happen with customs. Trivial in the grand scheme of things, but since I am g...

Re: If you were going to buy a grill today what would you buy?

I got rid of the gas grill when I got the Traeger. Gets to temp just about as fast. It doesn’t sear, but it still grills nicely for my taste when I need a quick grilled meal. I have a big green egg, so I don’t think a traeger is a fit for me- thanks though I’m a little surprised to see so much Webe...

I tend to use BGE more than anything else, but it is convenient to have a gas grill as well. The existing one is on its last legs.

What would you buy?

Re: Personal Collection of Rudi Weist @ Acker

Not to be argumentative, but I believe you have to add in 32.375% rather than 37%. I'm pretty sure their vig is 24%+8.375% sales tax. My mistake. I thought the vig was 28%. A Not really accurate. Of course it depends where you live, but if you live in NYC, then the effective rate is a hair over 35%...

All in all I would say a solid result and yet another indicator that Germany is again on the rise as a serious collectible- but at the very top levels none of those headline grabbing moments that can instantly set a given winery on fire in the eyes of the investor/collector. Robert hit the nail on the head. There was one bidder who wanted everything and didn’t care about price. He basically bought every Prum lot. I thought the prices were high when you add in roughly 37% to the hammer price for the vig and taxes. Last year I bought directly from the estate at lower pri...

My question is how large of a cellar are we talking about? If it is under 1,000 I guess it could make sense especially if your still wines are CA and don’t need a ton of age on em. Over 1,000 means you are crushing champagne.

Obviously if it works for you then go for it.
