completely agree on the grape. i just have no interest in wines at 14.5%+ but have enjoyed a Ridge wine now and then. my big issue is that high alcohol makes it impossible to enjoy southern rhone. i was in cdp in 2019 with my wife and had an excellent dinner in gigondas...and i just ordered a bottle...

the general consensus is that there's tons of money in the financial system needing a place to find a home. appreciable assets including stocks are at all time highs. i cant see how this can not help support wine prices in 2021 barring an exogenous event.

i bought 2 of these from wineaccess as well and was pleasantly surprised at how much i enjoyed them. usually just stick to clos de la roilette but this was a decent option. better on the second day if i recall.

Love the wine and it may well be deserved, but I can’t go forward with the $100 tariff of recent vintages. i completely agree. i was buying $40-50 bottles of the chaillot just 2-3 years ago. not a huge fan of the producer...a bit too rustic for my taste...maybe its just cornas for me as i do love c...

i had two bottles of les journaries from 2009 and thought they were absolutely awful...tart, light...i could barely tell it was syrah.

not the same discussion but whats the general consensus on purchasing a bottle (online from a reputed wine shop) not rare but not available to replace either...2015 $85 1er burgundy that was sold with a wine stained label and you were not told of it beforehand?

i was contemplating what to drink with pastrami and corned beef and we opted for a vecchia modena lambrusco which worked out quite well.

had it again the other night and opted for baudry's granges...a 2017...and it worked well too. then again, baudry is pretty much our house red.

stupid question...does the amex $50 off $150 work if you're order is $153ish after tax? or does the subtotal pre-tax have to be above $150 for the amex deal to kick in? If you want to head east, go out to Bonnieux, Lacoste, Ménerbes and all the way to Apt if you are up to it (this is the area of Peter Mayle's novels and a gorgeous area). There are some good wines out in the Luberon. It's a huge and wonderful area to explore. funny enough, my wife and i 'explored' ...

heya folks...whats the drinking window for a bourgogne rouge from a respected producer? 2012 and 2014...are these past their prime at this point? have a good price on these two vintages and just was hoping for some guidance as to whether its worth it...i think the '14 is still fine but '12?
