Re: Aubert 2019 Vintage - Spring Release

wow, this is incredible, usually when the allocations open, there are plenty left for at least a couple days. I didn't think to try login early until now and only able to grab 1 bottle each of Lauren and Sugar Shack.

Is 2019 production less than the past years? Maybe I am just late to the party.

Re: TN: 2017 Chanin Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard

Thanks for the note. I had it about a year ago, PnP, and quite enjoyed this. It was rather balanced with a touch of oak and acidity to round it out. Went back to buy a couple more. Thanks for the tip on the 18.

Re: Vivino App comments?

I enjoy using the app to scan random bottles at Costco to get a feel of it. I agree CT and WS are more accurate, but I use it with a grain of salt - a 4.0 star bottle may not blow your mind but a 3.0 star bottle is best to stay away. I recently found some deals on Vivino, combining first-time purcha...

I actually enjoy La Burgondie Crémant Brut that's about 12$ at TJs. Pretty decent QPR and enjoyment especially when compared to Truly or White Claw.

Re: Wine pricing bubble? Thoughts?

What about the fact that millennials will have less disposible income compared to their parents and that generation Z enjoys their Truly and white claw? High end wine is purchased mostly by collectors and investors who represent about 5% of the population. As a millennials myself, I surely hope that...

Re: Any recommended Wine Clubs for more novice drinkers?

The podcast I listen to just covered this topic pretty extensively. Link below with notes. The podcast shined a light on the problem with wine clubs that many of them are re-packaged bulk wines that you wont find in wineries. They recommended wineaccess, but that is also their sponser, so take it wi...

Aubert is 1-2 years? I signed up in early 2018, got a tie-you-over mini offer of 2-3 bottles in the following month and start regular allocations by 2019.

Re: Why does wine often taste better the next day (or after)

I find this true with more bold reds, like hermitage, Rhone, sometimes Napa cabs that time helps them to open up more. Not so much with more delicate wines like Espeite de Tablas Blanc, a rhone blend. The complexity and crispness I had were a bit lost after a day in the fridge.

Re: Anyone using Weinboxes?

Does anyone know if these can be picked up at a Domaine location instead of shipped? I've purchased ~20 weinboxes from the Chicago location. I'd recommend calling your local Domaine first - they are really easy to get here in Chicago though. Highly recommend them. Thats a great idea thank you

Watched this over the weekend. This is more of a family drama centered around wine. Agree this probably doesn't do justice to tasting in real world, but its not like Dr. House can diagnose and perform just about any major surgeries and procedures there is.

With stay at home orders, I figure I would pick one to support. So, they are it.

Tried the 2015 Kirkland Barolo (19.99$) over the weekend. When I initially opened this, it was a spicy chaos of fruit, but after 30 minutes, this opened up nicely. Dark fruit, cherry, chocolate with hints of earth, which got even better for the next few hours. This is not bad for 19.99$. Will probab...

I recommend tasting with food pairing at B cellars. Their chefs prepare right on the spot, take you on a tour and cellar, barrel tasting and finish up the rest of the tasting at the table. They also offer tasting of Heritage wines with Beckstoffer grapes. We had good company and had a good time.
