2016 Pontet Canet $145 2016 Grand Puy Lacoste $80 2010 Haut Bages Liberal $48 2015 Sociando-Mallet 1.5L $80 An assortment of 2016 Fidelitas wine club bottlings, thinking I might pull the plug on that wine club though. First three were with the above-mentioned Total Wine coupon, I think only the Pont...

Re: TN: 2015 Domaine de Chevalier (France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan)

This thread inspired me to seek out a DDC to try. While I couldn't find the 2015, I did find a '14 which my wife and I drank last night. Beautiful fruit on the nose that the palate didn't quite deliver on, although it really opened up throughout the evening after a 2.5 hour decant plus another coupl...

Re: Winebid revised.....

I had a shipment arrive from Winebid last week – three days from Napa to Seattle. Have since popped a couple of the bottles that I received and both showed really well. No complaints here!

Re: Wine Refrigerators

Found a new, unused Artevino III with a small ding in the side for $800 at a nearby electronics recycling shop. Bought it, then as it's being unloaded off the truck by the delivery guys this morning, it lurches off the dolly and smashes on the pavement, destroying the door. Unbelievable. Back to the...

Re: Bordeaux with 10-20 years and < $100

More generally, and if you are looking to consume now, I'd look for wines in the 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2004 vintages, and for much older wines, for 83 and 85. I second this. I've recently enjoyed a '01 GPL and an '02 Pontet Canet, both were drinking beautifully (especially the GPL) and were $100 or...

Re: What bottle of wine did you open today?

'02 Pontet Canet last night, absolutely delicious. Loved my first glass and then the second glass was even better. Pretty cool when that happens. And the third glass can be even more exciting. That happens all the time when you make a habit of drinking fine red Bordeaux... [cheers.gif] Hah, absolut...

Re: What bottle of wine did you open today?

2011 Grand Puy Lacoste: walked through the wine section at a Seattle Trader Joe's and saw they had a bunch of these, so I grabbed one. Decanted for an hour. I'm a BDX noob so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. Subdued nose, black cherry, leather and anise on the palate. Really nice balance betwe...

In the biz when I was younger (tasting rooms of a couple of WA wineries and a now-defunct Seattle bottle shop) but now just a 34-year-old drinker trying to lean further into my already-existing hobbies.

Re: What bottle of wine did you open today?

Drank a couple Washington cabs with some friends in NYC over the last week. 2014 Woodward Canyon Artist Series: A bit of a letdown. Some nice, round fruit but I found it lacking in acidity and a little uninteresting. Disappointing, as this was my first bottle of Woodward Canyon and I had high hopes....

Re: What bottle of wine did you open today?

This seems like a good thread for my first WB post: enjoyed a 2014 Reserve de la Comtesse on Friday night. Loved it – obviously young, flash decanted and it just got better after each glass. Dug it so much for the price ($39), I went back a couple days later to buy more but they were out. Ah well. ...
