Yes I've had a few corked and oxidized bottles. From my experience TCA present in the bottles is less than other wine regions but still there. For many people the bubbles can mask flaws. Then of course there is a ton of really bad champagne out there.

According to CellarTracker, I purchased from PC from late 2002 to early 2014. These tended to be current release or pre-release offerings of less expensive wine, such as Pegau, Beaucastel and Usseglio CdPs, Fevre Chablis, along with a variety of Champagnes. Full disclosure that I'm a Comtes fan - thanks for the note as I'll be searching for a few of these to add to the 96s and 02s in the cellar. Our 96s went through an odd phase so we locked them away in the cellar. They are grand now.

Shannon, this is the fifth time I've had the '96 DP Oeno since release. It's the least expressive bottle yet. Every champagne was decanted and poured over a two hour period. Brand over land when the numbers work. "Altogether, the brands add up to nearly 500,000 cases per year, selling mostly at $12 to $15 a bottle."

These brands are popular and well-made for high production wines. And from WA State where the production cost structure can be lower than CA.
