Re: books ?

Not exactly what you described, but A Year in Provence by Peter Mayle is a great summer read.

Re: North Carolina Outer Banks

Not too late! We’re leaving next week & due to COVID-related flight cancellations, we’re now flying into Norfolk a day early & spending a day in Virginia Beach. I’ll poke around, but we’re going to take everything except afternoon rosé, which I feel like I’ll be able to find somewhere. If not, it wi...

Re: North Carolina Outer Banks

Re-upping this, as we’re headed to the Outer Banks next month. We’re flying into Norfolk, and driving the rest of the way. We’ll probably bring a case of wine, but ideally we’d like to find a wine shop to stop at along the way (or once we’re across the bridge).
Any recommendations?

I grabbed some of that as well. I’ve liked the other Lutum single vineyards, and S&B has always been a favorite of mine.

Highlights for me so far:
2016 DI CO
2012 Riverain Cardiac Hill Syrah
2013 Scherrer Old & Mature Vines Zin

And the Tercero Cinsault Rose from the Quarantine offer
Add the 2013 Scherrer Huntsman to this list. It's outstanding.

It's kinda anti-climactic after the power hour.
One man's anti-climactic is another man's affordable weekday wines.
Oh, I didn't say I stopped buying. I need variety in my weeknight wines too!

Just a quick note - just learned my Scherrer order is due to arrive TODAY! Dang that was quick. (And Tercero is due Friday).
Ugh. We'll be snow-covered (with no wine deliveries) for months in Wisconsin.

I started with the The Windows on the World Complete Wine Course, and read it cover-to-cover when I first discovered wine. Invaluable resource.

Re: New to the world of wine

I'll echo the thought to taste a bunch, and find a local wine shop where you can get to know a wine buyer or somm who will help you learn. That was the biggest thing that helped me when I got in to wine in my 20s. A lot of wine shops dismissed me as just a kid, but I ultimately found one that turned...

Re: TN: 2016 Littorai Pinot Noir The Pivot Vineyard Sonoma Coast

I generally enjoy the Littorai Pinots, with Pivot & Haven vineyards being my personal preference. Don't sleep on their Chardonnays. I dove into their Pinots when I first heard of them, but might actually prefer the Chards now.

Re: BerserkerDay 11 - How did you do?

First Berserker Day for me, and the combination of a wine cellar expansion in process & extra cash budgeted for stocking up led to purchases from 17 producers, all of which will be new to me. The deals were great, and the entire event was unbelievably well run - the WB admins & every producer from w...
