Re: Virginia winery suggestions?

Michael's post is a pretty good summation of Loudon County wines. Tarara and Fabiloi are both nice places to visit but the wines are not great. Fabioli puts on a nice tasting with small bites / chocolates paired to the wines. RdV and Barboursville are both good choices. We had a Barboursville Viogni...

If you like whiskey the Museo del Whiskey is a great bar with a piano player in the basement most nights. The steak at Bar Nestor is not to be missed. The more I think about San Sebastian the more I miss it. Bordeaux is an easy day trip if you have a car.

2012 De Ponte Dundee Hills Pinot Noir - Perfect every time. We've drank cases of this and could drink it forever. Flying Dog "The Truth" Imperial IPA - Incredibly well-balanced IPA local to us in Maryland. Eagle Rare 17 - Would settle for the standard Eagle Rare but this is particularly special. Geo...

Re: PSA- Hotel Maria Cristina in San Sebastián, Spain

Agree that it's an amazing hotel. Their pinxtos guide was pretty spot on and allowed us to discover some things we wouldn't have tried otherwise. Favorite San Sebastian restaurants? Ours were Akellare (favorite restaurant anywhere) and the steak at Bar Nestor. We found Mugaritz disgusting. We learne...

Just dropping a quick line to thank Jay for welcoming a newbie/winberserker-lurker to his soiree. Very much looking forward to meeting some fellow winos and tasting Jay's delicious cooking. Just a couple weeks now.

Re: Starting a collection and going to Napa, which wines can I only get at the vineyard?

Be sure to ask wineries you visit what they are offering from their libraries. Some (like BV) have their entire library available all the time, others offer a select list. You can usually find interesting wines on those library lists, perhaps a wine the winery doesn't make anymore or some perfectly ...
