This is dangerous. 2 x 2016 LLC for $225/per after discounts. Thanks for the codes!

Re: Your Gin?

The Bontanist is probably one of the most balanced gins I've had. It's sufficiently complex and there's not any single descriptor/element that dominates more than the next. I think that is the appeal for most people.

Re: Bedrock Wine Co. Winter Release Save The Date

Late to the party, but just put through a small order:

1 x Dolinsek
1 x Hudson T'n'S
1 x Pagani
1 x Under the Mountain
2 x Cali Syrah

Missed out on the cab and Farmhouse, but my fault for not being on top it! Either way, happy to add these to the cellar. Bedrock is such a great QPR. :)

Re: 2012 Bedrock Syrah Weill a Way Exposition 1-3

I have a set of the 2013's, but this post makes me want to seek out a set of the 2012's for comparison! Very happy to read the 2012's are drinking great! The 2012's do come up on auction at K&L and Winebid fairly regularly, both individual bottles and complete horizontals. Good to know! Will keep a...

Re: 2013 Chave Hermitage

The competitive spirit coupled with a few extra glasses of wine probably makes for this sort of thing more often than is noticed. I think there are too many people willing to fork over extra cash just to stick it to the person they are competing with. At 2-3x valuation of a bottle available at retai...

This is like drinking a liqueur and not a beer. Syrupy and decadent. I've bought at $190 and shared with friends. Something truly unique.

Re: Official Costco Thread

Still no 2016 Sassicaia at my local Costco in SE Wisconsin. Seeing as how they just got in the '08 Dom last week, perhaps not surprising that other offerings are hitting the store at the same pace as other markets. Fingers crossed it lands soon!

3 pack of the '16 Corra cab and a 6 pack of '16 Skipstone Oliver's Blend in OWC. Think I'm going to sit tight until 2020. :)

Re: Home Bar Question

Here's my take. I probably have 100+ bottles in my home bar and for mainly cocktails, the options below are affordable and versatile. Bourbon - Buffalo Trace Scotch - Monkey Shoulder (non-peated) and Compass Box Peat Monster (peated) Rye - Sazerac or Rittenhouse Gin - Ford's or Plymouth Rum - Cana B...

Hi Christine, I'm a Milwaukee local and can definitely recommend things based on what exactly you're looking for. How many hours do you have to kill? Any restrictions on food? Just lunch or dinner, too? Also, too bad you aren't visiting in the summer, but I think you'll enjoy Milwaukee either way. :)

Any feedback on Bell's Chocolate Cherry Vanilla Stout, Rogue Dead Guy and Oskar Blues Death By Coconut? They are among the newest entries at Hoover's Tavern.
I am a fan of the Death by Coconut. Definitely the best of that bunch, IMO.

Kid Kolsch from New Glarus. One of the better beers Dan has put out in the last few years. Grabbed a couple extra six packs to hold me over until it's released again.

Re: The Bourbon Thread

I agree re Weller CYPB. Even the Special Reserve is starting to fetch inflated prices. The market is way overheated. New releases continually fetch ridiculous money for unproven whiskey. Sadly, the market has been overheated for at least the last 5 years. Hoping we see prices come down in the next ...

Re: The Bourbon Thread

Tried a few newer releases. EHT Amaranth and Weller CYPB. Both were served by the glass (1.5oz each) and while I'd probably buy a bottle at retail, neither was close to their price of admission from a secondary pricing perspective. Just not nearly interesting enough.

Made a swap for 3 x '08 Dom. It still hasn't hit SE Wisconsin yet (that I can tell), so was happy to land a few bottles until I can buy at retail.

I've never had the original Kina Lillet, but this will be a little more heavy than Cocchi Americano. It will give the Vesper a little more depth, which some may prefer.

Re: Your Gin?

Fords is the staple in my cabinet. Great for mixing. Isle of Harris is another great bottle (UK only) which makes a killer G&T with a slice of grapefruit. I recently picked up a bottle of Hardshore Original, which is very herbal/aromatic and dials back the juniper quite a bit. Not really a G&T bottl...

Re: The Cocktail Thread

Death & Co is definitely one of the top cocktail books out there. Also near the top for me is a book by the late Sasha Petraske called Regarding Cocktails. Almost every cocktail in the book is very approachable in terms of ingredients (unlike some books like PDT, for example). https://www.amazon.com...
