A McManus Petite Syrah?
Perhaps Sierra Carche?
Maybe Emilio Morro or a Priorato?
Montille, Harlan, SQN, Clos de Papes?

Maybe just a raspberry milkshake.

Well we're back and I want to thank many on this board and share some of my thoughts on the trip. We started in Rome and stayed three nights in an AirBnB near Campo de Fiori. This was a great decision and I'd recommend anyone going to Rome to choose this area as it is walking distance from almost ev...

Part of it is the 'Instagram effect'. People mostly write up things that are positive (just as they post their 'best' pix on Instagram). If an older wine bombed, many times it is simply left out as DOA.

Amalfi in March

Our family (wife, me, teen girl, and teen boy) are headed to the Amalfi Coast in March. We like to hike, eat, drink (the adults), and do some sight seeing. This will be for 3-4 days after staying in Rome for 3-4 days. I have zero experience and am trying to get a handle on what there is to do, how d...

Suggestions for an under-$50 Cal cab tasting?

Neal Family - the basic cab is generally fairly structured solid fruit, not over the top at all. Howell Mountain (mostly).

Whitehall Lane - you might be surprised. They have done some good things
St. Clement -
Pine Ridge

I'd throw in a Cameron Hughes ringer as a wildcard.

Why? Really, why? You enjoy the chase, the acquisition of expertise, the journey, the drink.

If you are concerned that it is consuming too much income, fine.

Don't deprive yourself of something you enjoy doing. Life is too short.

Get after it young man!

2008 Rhys Alpine Chardonnay Totally ready to go from the minute it is open. This has mellowed nicely and I think it is at, or close to, peak right now. Color has become deeper and more brassy. Melon, flint, acidity and lemon curd dominate the palate. The texture is perfect neither piecing nor lush. ...

Just make sure you get right up to the front of the wine bar and stand there whilst making small talk with the person pouring. Do not stand sideways and absolutely do NOT move from that spot! That's how you get your money's worth. [wink.gif]

It is VERY difficult NOT to have a good time at an offline. Keep and open mind, know that everyone has their own tastes which may differ from yours, and don't get 'married' to your own wine. Sometimes your wine will be good, others not.

You ended with $95,307,009
You Started with $5,000,000
That gives you a final score of:
1,906

final bottle px was $49.80

I stuck to quality pretty much the whole way and balanced vineyard/winery investments. Only one bad year. No drama.
