Re: Virtual blind tasting of 5 red Burgundies
Thanks for the notes. Would you say the 2009 d'Angerville Taillepieds was handling the 2009 vintage well, meaning that it was not too ripe? I have one bottle of the 1999 Arnoux Suchots which I am saving for sometime in 2025+. Do you think it is at peak now or another 5 or 10 years will bring more po...

Re: Pinot: Rhys v. Rochioli v. Aubert v. CA Others v. Burgundy
I think you are missing the OPs point. He didn’t say he wanted Burgundy. He likes Burgundy, but at current pricing wants to know what else is out there. Aubert pinot noir and Rochioli single vineyard pinot aren't exactly cheap. I would rather drink village level Dujac, Hudelot Noellat, Denis Bachel...

Where!? I'm guessing Apex Wines in NC. They have it in stock (and ship to Missouri). The Meyer Nepal was only in magnum in 2019. This is either the wrong AP number or wrong vintage. I don't think this is true. I agree that there are a lot of wines that are "out of reach" for a lot of people, but modern winemaking has never been better - there's never been a bigger ocean of good wine coming from every region in the world. I guess I take a fairly philosophical view of ...

If I am not mistaken, there was no Les Poyeaux in 2013 and it was all blended into the Les Clos (regular Samur). Maybe that is why the 2013 had a little more oomph? Or the 2014 just needs to age a bit more. Glad to have both. HUGE pic though

I probably saw some type of thread like this a while ago, I think it was something like "What are you not buying...." I tried to look for it but could not find it. Anyway, since there have been a lot of buzz on recent offers and vintages coming in, I was just curious if this has affected a...

Re: 2019 Burgundy -- What are you buying?
The 2019 offers have been quite disappointing. I get that it’s a great vintage and yields are down, but there are plenty of other good to great vintages or wines this decade that are cheaper. And a number of US sellers are still pricing in tariffs so not inclined to buy early unless a wine or price...

I love K&L's selection of sparklings, their Insider Advantage deals, and their niche wine selection in general. I'm lucky to be in Sonoma county and have Bottle Barn to drain the majority of my wine wallet, but K&L gets quite a bit of play from me. I've not noticed any K&L pricing as be...

Re: Can wines labeled Bourgogne Rouge be great?
IMHO, not really. The gap between good Bourgogne Rouge and an average Village wine is greater tan the gap between a good Village wine and an average 1er Cru. This of course does not include those unicorn Bourgogne rouge that are priced to the moon like that Bizot Bourgogne or 04 Leroy.
Re: K&L
What do you find is a good value play at K&L? I have been buying from them for well over a decade and have always found them to be a class act. Great customer service, good shipping pricing. But...for much of their wine the pricing is qutie a bit higher than I can usually source elsewhere. I do...

Apologies for sounding like a noob, I meant Chave Hermitage. Yikes, def not popping my one bottle this early although maybe I should stock up a little. Brutal to stock up at current retail price Chave Hermitage is now officially cheaper than Allemand Reynard, as of the 2017 vintage. Probably the same rice as Allemand Chaillot. I have been drinking Briords since the 2010 vintage every year, one of THE best QPR's for white wine, period. I did however find the 2019 vintage showing a bit of a sun-kissed flavor that, although not distracting, is not my personal preference for this wine. I still have around 4 (of 6) bottles and...
