Re: What is YOUR most recent wine purchase?

Not to burst your bubble, but you may have read here the debate that flares up about LLC every few months—between those who like it and those who don’t. I personally don’t like any LLC made after the ‘66. You might want to figure out if you like LLC and how it matures before laying down recent vint...

Re: What is YOUR most recent wine purchase?

The annual Autumn French Wine Sales (Foire aux Vins) has started in some websites and will be ramping up from now to October. I often see better price for Bordeaux in the US (or even the UK) but a website just put almost all their Bordeaux at -30% (up to 600€ in an order) so that got some traction. ...

Re: Why don't I buy more Louis Michel Chablis?

Just grabbed some 1e La Foret 2015 to try. So far, I've had mostly Chablis made by William Fevre and Droin (yum). It's been mentioned above, but 2015s won't be the best representation of the site or the producer. It was such a hot vintage that the wines lack typical Chablis cut and precision and ca...

Re: Outside of the Northern Rhone Box: Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes

I tasted Pierre Jean-Villa's Esprit d'Antan 2010 3 months ago and it could give a lot of basic Cote-Roties the run for their money.
For a more immediate enjoyment, glou-glou wine, Gerin made a beautiful La Champine in 2016. Less than 10 euros and great and fresh Syrah there, can't recommend it enough.

Re: Report back on a few days in the Jura and Beaujolais

Sounds like a great trip !
Thivin has been making spectacular wines these last vintages. La Chapelle might be ma favourite Bojo (still waiting on Zaccharie) and for 15 to 20 euros (you can find them at a cheap price on auction from time to time) it is an absolute steal.

Re: What is YOUR most recent wine purchase?

Went bargain hunting on the equivalent of craigslist in France. Splurged a bit on some wines that I'll share with a friend. Hopefully all bottles will be alive and well. Levels were great and questions on storage were satisfactorily answered, but you can never be sure... 5x half-bottles of Chateau d...

Re: Favourite Quality in a wine

Verticality in feel.
Sadly haven't been able to feel it all that much.

Otherwise, the peppery quality of northern rhone syrahs.

Everyone who has one is satisfied ? I'm thinking of buying one.

Re: 2018 Bordeaux Futures - What Did Everyone Buy?

First future campaign, still at the age (29) it makes sense to buy young Bordeaux and I got caught up in the game-like nature of daily releases... also went for some better priced 2014 wines (GPL mainly) but wanted to get a little bit of everything from 2018. Everything in 75cl 6x Laroque 4x Durfort...
