Never had SQN Syrah before but have been wanting to try one. These are all available for <$300 on a reputable site. Anyone have thoughts on which to try for drinking in the next 6 months? I was able to get a pack of the Sleeping Lady. Shae was super helpful. If anyone in the NYC area wasn’t able to get some I’d be happy to share a bottle at cost.

I’d also swap one (plus the price difference) for a bottle of the Diamond Mountain if anyone has interest.

I could never get there on the absurd. Hopefully bard hasn’t gone up by more than $5-10 per bottle. I believe they’ve significantly increased its production.

I think 2-10+ year old Bedrock (and even more so Carlisle, which I think has a similar customer base) is readily available online around current release prices. Unless you have tons of free space in a cellar, I’ve found this to be a more attractive option than buying big from the wineries.

It’s definitely worth the visit. The property is beautiful and the tour/tasting is great. I picked up a couple bottles then, but am not otherwise a buyer given the price point.

Wine Pricing - Canada and US

Spending the weekend in Canada and finding incredible values on Italian wine but that US wine is very expensive (all relative to buying wine at retail in the US). I assume the US taxes imports more than Canada and perhaps other countries do the same to US wines. Any thoughts?

I had an ‘05 Clarendon Hills Piggott Range recently. Really enjoyed an ‘08 I had last year, so had high hopes. This one was super sweet and syrupy. No balance or structure. Maybe a bad bottle?

Does anyone else feel like shipping concerns are overblown? Before I paid attention to this stuff, I would order wine year round. Mostly $20-40 bottles so not a huge loss if something went wrong, but I don’t recall ever having an issue with wine shipped in the summer.
