Re: Transporting magnums

I travel with the metal rimowa's and I have always just had them in my bag and had no issues. Back in October I had a 3L I brought with me to hawaii with zero issues.

Re: Cellar advice

Go with double deep individual bottle racking. You will never regret it. Here are a couple of examples. https://www.winecabinets.com/category-s/179.htm http://www.winerackshop.com/208-bottle-double-deep-wood-wine-rack.html If your handy, build them yourself. I saw this but for double bins I’d have ...

Re: Cellar advice

We have just about every kind of bin at the store. Each provide adequate storage, but for retail, display is an issue and hunting down wines in a diamond is a pain in the arse. You are talking about home racking and diamond can be efficient in the appropriate environment. If you don't have enough o...

Tip the rear down a little if you live in California.
Best advice. Didn’t think of the SF is home and main reason I worry about quakes and the very full diamond bins.

I like my cube bins, despite many naysayers. Prolly more functional than diamond bins.

And, it’s kinda cool that you joined ten years to the day after this Board started.
Very cool, didn’t know that. I am mostly a stalker on here but slowly coming around to the idea of posting more.

Ok, wanted to confirm that it was a good idea to spend the money to get new storage. This is what we are working on now, seems ok?

Cellar advice

I am curious about everyone’s opinions on here about a cellar at a house I’m moving into. I’m not really the biggest fan of the diamond bins and thinking of changing out these for normal cubbies. Thoughts?

Really excited for this project. Tasted with Shea back in July and went in for a 3 pack of each. Really great stuff they’re making and excited to see where this goes.

Stayed at the Eliza Jane in May and loved it. Still walking distance to nice things, rooms were very affordable and nice. Lobby bar is very nice.

I personally like when people post the save the date. It always starts a conversation about the wine/winery being released and thoughts and comments from people who have tried them.

Re: Healdsburg winery and restaurant recommendations

If you like a small production Pinot, make sure to check out cartograph. The owners are so lovely and the tasting room is very inviting. I think Reeve does a great job with their tastings and makes a fantastic Riesling (apt necessary) another good Pinot and Chardonnay spot would be Gary farrel, also...

I stopped buying from winebid about a year ago, I have had sooo many bad bottles from that site. I know it happens with auction but winebid specifically became too much after a couple bad cases.

Re: Love for Domaine Chevalier

I’ve been buying chevalier for years and is one of my personal bordeaux favorites, both the white and red. Had a 04 white with sushi a couple months back that was fantastic. A 06 red with dinner last week from a magnum that was also drinking very well. An easy case purchase every year.

Santa Lucia area

I am heading to the area on July 12th and was hoping to get some recommendations on places to taste with a group of about 8 and a couple dogs. Might be asking for too much, most of the places I like I am assuming won’t do large groups. Thanks for any recommendations!
