Coravin'd two small pours over the past 10 days. Finally pulled the cork and got a different wine (which is not unusal to me).

Not a typical zinfandel but it's clearly a zinfandel. Long bright red fruit finish. I feel the tannin is a bit chalky - still gas in the tank? Need to pick up more.

My limited experience is the last 1/3 bottle tastes best after pulling the cork. Next time I might Coravin a glass right before pulling the cork to compare. But I am not sure that actually makes sense as argon is injected into the wine?

I agree that there is no way to know what a wine tastes like without trying it. I opened a bottle of N.37 and did not find it exciting. Others including Cam confirmed that. N.15 Merlot. Licorice and red cherry, immediately followed by savory red fruit, with acidity emerging, leading to a long earthy finish. Medium dusty tannin. Very happy.

The only white that didn’t show well was the Viognier. It was the least favorite and had a ton of sulfur on the nose. N.37 was the first and only one not meeting expectation so far. Got white flower, tangerine peel, and white pomelo on both nose and palate. Will give another month before revisit.

Executed as planned - one case if Garbro Ranch, two if Dehlinger.

5 releases in 5 days. I think (or I hope) Cam is almost done releasing high-end Nap/Sonoma stuff. Now we can all take a good rest and see if 2021/2022 vintage will create another glut.

N.23 2019 Carneros Chardonnay. Nose was banana extract, vanilla, and white blossom. Attack was creamy vanilla and yellow peach, followed by minerality and saline, with m+ acidic yellow peach finish. Very satisfied with this $12 all-in purchase.

My impression from this group is that red wine interest is >>>>>> white I reckon so. But personally I’d super interested in seeing more whites on offer from dN. UPS is not going to back up an empty semi and empty a warehouse...Logistics don't work that way. It takes time and UPS advising him to start early makes sense..... Any thoughts on OG 5? It's back. Color me confused. I was able to add over 2000 cases of #5 to my cart and check out. So either this is an error or #5 was a massive lot and he held back 1000s and is now re-releasing it. 1 good tasting note on CT and my friend likes his. I already have 1 case coming...

FWIW, N.46 was bottled on Aug 12 using VINC+ cork (actual wine in the picture), which Cameron said can easily go 15-20 years.

Enough discussion on whether we got the same wine. While I tend to believe not, why does the juice not making the cut not worth aging when it was made with that intention? Can a $15 BDX become a better wine 10 years later? What’s wrong with discussing package here?
