I drank a lot of those old Bancroft Merlot's....always have an eye out for them. 1992 was probably 4 years ago, but was delicious.

I cannot imagine that Cab is dead either, but I would certainly buy the Merlot.

There are more grand crus that should be premier crus, than the other way round. No Antica? I'm eager for SunBreak! Lots of Antica, this is something new here (apparently the original vermouth?). If it’s good the PLCB won’t restock it. $12.99 per 375 ml. Definitely good, less rich than Antica and less sweet than Punt e Mes, Dry and Bianco are good too, as are Carpano Bitters.

Do people still like Mayacamas Mountain wines? I find them very nice albeit expensive similarly Mt. Veeder AVA. Yes. The cab is expensive, but not unfairly priced given its competition. Very sad to see....I never found the wines he helped make or made to be heavy, hot, or plodding unless a vintage drove it to that and even in ripe vintages I found most wines I tried to have good to very good freshness and acidity.

Always liked the wines from Pepper Bridge that JF made as his last vintage at Heitz, another winery I adore, was 1997.

That Upland Vineyard site does add a bit of spice as it is so cool.

Both come from CA Grand Cru dirt for sure with Cohn and To Kalon.

Scarecrow has always had beautifully smooth tannins, and that has removed some of the character for me especially when tasted against Rubicon.
