Being a 75 birthday....its pretty rough on red side. Bordeaux doesn't give.much pleasure other than some high ticket Right Bankers. Napa is hit and miss, Ridge York Creek PS are good if you can find them. Sauternes and German Riesling are best wines I have found.

Yow! VCC at $320 a bottle. I was really hoping to see more restraint on this price, along with Figeac and La Conseillante. Is a retailer going to put these on the shelf next to 05/09/10 selling for roughly the same price, or the 12/14 selling at ~50% under? It seems some of these 18s are destined t...

What does everyone think of WA wines? I’ve found them ok but not great. Lack definition and depth of some of the deep reds from NAPA. Thoughts? Interesting as I find WA wines are known for their definition, a couple producers make deep reds in WA but the weather isn't built to make wines like that....

I say it time and time again, in WA we cut Merlot with Cab, in Napa you cut Cab with Merlot.

Tough comparison unless you look at blends or Franc or Syrah.

WA will catch CA before it catches BDX. The single largest difference is going to be the acceptance that in most areas the single greatest contribution to a blend will be a foundation of Merlot or Franc, not Cabernet. Problem is both have image issues while Cab still garners top $ from consumers, so...

I don't think 2015 was a great year for Cab or Merlot, look to 2016 for more pleasure. 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013 were all solid, but this wine needs a warmer vintage IMO.

I didn't create the WA State tax structure, so no offence taken. It's odd that a bar is a relatively better deal than a retail location when it comes to WA.
