Seattle has the 2008 DP now. $135. But we have sales tax here. And it's not small. Come on, it's only 10.1%, a pittance compared to our spirits taxes. Yeah, our spirits tax is insane. That's a pretty big oops, as Le Pin looks nothing like Pichon Lalande. Some customers I have called on have had servers pull a Beaucastel Hommage vs standard CdP for instance, so it happens.

Greg, I think it's only called "rice wine" in the US to demystify it, and only for consumers, I haven't heard that in 10-15 years as education has increased from suppliers and selection has gone from 18L bag in box served hot to serious versions available in US. Some of the suggestions aren't bad - Novelty Hill for example, but that's north of $20 these days. And don't forget to look at Merlot - most people can't tell the dif anyway and it's often cheaper than Cab. Not super hard to find in WA, so I may have a bit of home bias on better pricing. I had a bottle of 1961 UW Kabinett with Ernie years ago, so his family has made age-worthy wines. I still have mags of Spätlese and Kabinett from the 00's I'll have to give a run and see if have same issue.

Great wines have been coming from Eisele vineyard for well over 40 years, despite what "Winery name" or winemaker has made the wine. Although I am partial to the wines of Francoise Peschon. Drank the 2014 Chassagne Montrachet a week or so ago. Very sharp.

I agree White Burgs tend to frustrate, but aged ones when on hit higher highs than red wines IMO....hence the continued torture.
