Re: Back in the biz

Well, sort of... I’m starting a part-time job next Saturday. The original intention was for this to be a post-retirement gig. However, I’ve delayed retirement until next May (at the latest). For now, it’ll be 2-3 days a month on the weekend while I have my full-time day job. I’m going to be a tasti...

Colour me naive, but wouldn’t you think that these days Sotheby’s would be extra careful? You can just imagine the cross examination... “Did you get documentation on the provenance?” “Why not?” / “where is it and why wasn’t it published”? REVISED/UPDATED: The biggest problems with the items in the ...

Wouldn’t say the price is excellent based off of two different offers I got for $100 cheaper per bottle.

If I know that only a very limited % of the wines are released for EP, then it's probably because the Chateau is trying to create artificial shortages and hype. No. They are running a business and seek to maximize their return. I remember buying 2000 Futures and prices doubled in 1-2 weeks for some...

Conseillante was released at GBP 120. I was hoping for something closer to $150. Was thinking of getting both but I might skip it. Both you guys should pay the price you want for the wines you like. But my tip of the day is, 2019 La Conseillante is one of the few 2019 wines that is better than 2018...

Re: 2019 Bordeaux Recommendations for Longest Lived

Seems like a question Jeff Leve could help with as he has tasted them. If you want lower alcohol 19’s, it seems the wines with lower percentages of merlot have alcohol levels in the low-mid 13’s. This seems to be a very general assumption based on limited data, and doesn’t always hold up...

Mature is more of a personal choice. What constitutes mature for me, might differ. 19 is a very forward vintage and while it will deliver pleasure at 10, I would hold mine until the wine reached 20. It is a beautiful wine. I will post notes tomorrow on my site for the entire lineup of Haut Brion wi...

Do you really think you need to wait 50 years to open a bottle? I do not agree at all. But that's just me Hi Jeff -- when do you anticipate the 2019 Haut Brion will be mature? Not drinkable, but mature. Do you see it more along the lines of the 1990, which was glorious by the time it reached 20 yea...

I don’t really get upset or worked up based on prior comments but I’m very confused. Recent Bordeaux or Bordeaux in general isn’t on the same spectrum as Burgundy.
