La Paulee des Franks

Has Anyone been to one of these BYO dinners? It says BYO but also some ‘special Burgundy’ wines poured by Daniel Johnnes, John Burns Paterson & the Paulée team.

Trying to figure out if it is a good event.

Agree with David that Selbach Oster as always was great. Their 2017 Rotlay was my fav wine of the vintage and bought a case of 12. 2018 Rotlay wasn’t ready yet.

I also thought merkelbach rieslings were quite good.

Re: Top CdB reds (Volnay, Corton, Pommard)

I don’t think JM Bouley makes a Clos des Ducs, unless it was a one-off? His Pommard Rugiens and Volnay Chenes are both very fine, IMO, and his recent vintages are even better than the wines from 5 years ago. You are right. It’s Clos Des Chenes. One of the catalyst behind the thread was the prices o...

Pricing in the UK is £900/12 but not available, unless you buy ridiculous amount of 2017 as well. I guess they are just artificially constraining the supply.

1995 Gazin. I just love Pomerol. I love wines that have plenty in the bottom register but don't feel weighted down, and that is the most prominent feature of these wines. At 24 years of age, this felt downright spritely. Silky mouthfeel and was just too easy going down. Love it. [thumbs-up.gif]
