Birth year for the twins and hence buying wines that I normally don’t 1. Cheval Blanc 2. LLC 3. VCC 4. Ducru (maybe) May also get Pichon Lalande, Haut Bailly and leoville Poyferre, but unsure at the moment. Not buying Avalon Segur because I bought 12 in 2016. 2016 D’Angerville Volnay. I knew it was too young but wanted to try it out to get a sense for his style.

Not a fan. Too tight. I prefer my wines to be more lively, spirited, fresh and airy and yet having a punch. Might try an aged Angerville before moving on.

1995 Gazin. I just love Pomerol. I love wines that have plenty in the bottom register but don't feel weighted down, and that is the most prominent feature of these wines. At 24 years of age, this felt downright spritely. Silky mouthfeel and was just too easy going down. Love it. [thumbs-up.gif]

On Lafleur, you can form your own view on how overpriced / fair prices that wine is. Quite unlikely one can buy it anyway given how heavily allocated it is. Unless one has been a previous buyer.

That might not be enough time for some wines, particularly Burgundy. For that kind of money, I'd look into Henri Gouges NSG 1er Crus. There are 6 or 7 different options to choose from, all under your cap limit with the exception of the Les St Georges. Most would just be coming into their drinking w...
