Pingus flew under the radar today... 6xbottles of the 2005 sold for $3,200 plus 20% BP comes to $640/bottle. Currently lowest WS is $925, $1,300. Crazy.

Auction slowdown? (HDH today)

Are the auctions slowing down? I think it's the first time I'm seeing the high-ends selling at low estimate or mid range. Some stuff even went below low estimate. Last year August/September was crazy, I remember people easily hitting the top estimate ranges...

You can try some Armenian wines: Yacoubian-Hobbs (Paul Hobbs is partner) or Karas http://www.karaswines.com/en/ Michel Rolland is consulting winemaker. Both have the Areni Noir grape varietal, which is very unique to Armenia and a distinct grape not related to anything else.

For me the sweet spot has been between 2 - 2.5 hours. It really starts showing after 2 hours, amazing juice.

Alex, Bummer to hear on those Moutons. Hope the 15 Riverain was drinking well. Steve, the Riverain was drinking really well! People kept asking for more, so we ended up opening 4 bottles of the Riverain, everyone loved it. I'll be picking up some more next month when I drive down to Yountville again.

I would bet that there will be no credit coming but it is still good to let them know about the consignment. If you think about it, very few people had active storage in the mid 80s and shipping with active cooling was still a long ways off. Sorry to hear about your experience. Also a bit surprised...

Well, this was kind of sucky. I got 3 bottles of 1982 Mouton from HDH auction last week. Opened all 3 this morning to decant for our dinner. All three badly oxidized.
