I live in Alberta, Canada. My passive basement cellar fluctuates in temperature from 13 (55) to 18 (64) with most of time in 14-16. RH is between 25% in winter to 65% in summer and found no effect on cork.

It's made of 100% Sangiovese not being labeled as a Chianti but an IGT Super Tuscan wine.

I'm debating between Cristal '08 and Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Millésimé '09 as my last Champagne purchase. I promised my better half just to get one last bottle before end of year.

Assuming they're priced the same, which one would you Champagne connoisseur recommend to get?

The 2000 surely needs more time, and likely more than the 3 years you mentioned. That's why the 1996 is so surprising at this point. One of the best Bordeaux I had in both '16 and '18.

I'm a newbie on Champagne. Why does mag taste better than standard bottling? Isn't that larger bottle size needs more time for wine to mature? How does it matter to taste difference?

Although I got two bottles of Rabaja, I was only allocated with one each of Asili, Paje, Ovello and Montefico. All cost me 100 Cdn each 😩 I don't plan to open any of these until 2025😁

[thankyou.gif] NV Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve (disg. 2018) How was it? Young, but delicious. Rich, lemon curd and toast with good acidity. Clearly, a couple years will do a lot for it, but no regrets opening this one. I found a store that has it, disgorged in 2008, is that still good?
