On to my 100th thread re: my first Napa trip newhere We have 4 tastings planned for next week, all with tasting fees, with fees ranging from $45 to $85 a person. Flying with Champagne/Sparkling wine

Sorry if a silly question but I’ve flown with wine and beer in my check through luggage multiple times without issue. Does champagne present a different issue? I’ve read that most cargo holds are pressurized these days but just wanted to check in for personal experiences

Grabbed a single Kirkland Oakville cab ($18.99), Sonoma OVZ (9.99), a couple of the 2018 rose (can’t beat for sub-$9) and a domaine Chandon rose (California sparkling)

Has anyone actually tried the Ployez-Jacquemart Liesse d’Harbonville? 2 bottles made me find more. 2000 vintage. No notes but loved it. As for B-S rosé, I age it 5 years and then drink. Gains a lot. I’ve had both 2016 and 17 Tercero lately. Plan on drinking my last 16 this summer while holding my last 17 for next summer. The 16 is tasting just fine as of 3-4 weeks ago

I'd caution you to make a list of the things you're thinking about buying before you go and checking the pricing at local retail. There are always unique things at the wineries when you visit, but you may be able to get a better deal locally than cellar door price for known wines from bigger wineri...

Issue resolved. I reached out to the Inn where I am staying and there is a service that comes to the Inn to pick up bottles for shipping. Seems like the most practical thing for me to do. Thanks again for all of the input. This is exactly why I asked now, so I know my options while there. I guess it’ll depend on how much we buy. If we buy 6 or under, I’ll probably just use a service to ship via UPS/FedEx. If we buy closer to 12, grabbing a winecheck locally may be the move!

SF, Napa, Carmel, Santa Barbara, fly out of LA. Little road trip to celebrate my better half’s birthday. It’ll be a little hectic but looking forward to it. But ya, with all the hustle and bustle, I think shipping directly from Napa may be the move.
