Re: TN: 2017 Château Carbonnieux Blanc

It's a good thing they've switched to DIAM. Carbonnieux were long one of the worst offenders for premox in white BDX, so much so that I would caution anyone buying 1994 to at least 2010 for essentially any price. Thank you for sharing this...I have not heard this, or if I did I forgot it. It will c...

One other aspect to this wine is that it is under the Diamanté's 30 year cork. For me, that along with the balance and elegance that this shows...leads me to believe that this can easily last 25+ years. This is absolutely Outstanding!! I decided to buy a case of this after tasting this bottle. It's...

I haven't had any Champagne under Mytik, tho I can see this being an unfortunate problem. Various cork studies (esp the ones done by Aussies) have shown that bottled wine, under natural cork, get's a relatively high amount of oxygen during the ~first year in bottle. FWIW, I think the Mytik closures are pretty repugnant. Champagne does not develop in the expected way under them, and even at 5 years post disgorgement, I'm seeing stripped fruit, sky high acid and excessive effervescence. I'm no longer purchasing champagnes from producers that use them until there ...

I wouldn't say it's a "deal" - that's about or just above fair value for that wine. I don't think it'll be that rewarding and it's certainly a questionable vintage.
