Why not an Italian wine with the osso buco? 2016 Nervi Gattinara, for example... I think a big red would be too much for the flavors of the dish.

I think the Champagne rec for the dessert is a good one :)

Tawse is a good deal. There is also 2008 Cristal in a gift box with two glasses that comes down to $216 with the raise.com coupons. 2016 Produttori is a great deal as a filler, as is 2017 Chave Offerus. They also have Delord 25y Armagnac. But a lot of it depends on where you are, no Krug Grand Cuvee...

Re: Retailer PSA -- Los Angeles Wine Company TCA policy (Updated with Winery's response)

I'm surprised how many people here feel like the neither store nor the winery has any responsibility to sell what they're claiming to sell / a wine fit for consumption. While I can understand how some might not think it's a big deal, write it off, etc. and I can understand how a seller might have t...

And this is totally fine. But the thread isn't about that, and --- quite frankly --- I now regret including this information in my post because it's not relevant. This post is about L.A. For my part, I will think long and hard before buying from them again a wine that needs age and is under cork. I made no assumptions about your interactions with the store, but highlighted your unreasonable expectations. Clearly, being unable to return a 13 year old bottle somehow encouraged you to...

Re: Retailer PSA -- Los Angeles Wine Company TCA policy (Updated with Winery's response)

If we're talking about an irreplaceable bottles of La Tache, that's one thing. But shaming the store and reaching out to the winery and feeling entitled to get a replacement on your $30 bottle from 13 years ago is ridiculous. Write it off as a loss, this (low) risk comes with the hobby.

TL;DR

Unreasonable dude shames reasonable wine store over not taking back cheap wine bought 10+ years ago and somehow manages to get replacement from winery to avoid backlash.

I think about it in terms of whether the money I get from selling the wine would make a real difference or not (e.g. paying for a major purchase or enabling something else other than a bit more cash). For single bottles or generally lower quantities, the answer almost certainly is to not sell, but r...
