Re: TN: A few nice wines with fellow Berserkers

Thanks for sharing the notes, Alan! I really loved that 2004 Allemand... That and the Monte Bello were my favorites of the night. I was surprised at how different all the Northern Rhone were, no two wines alike! Just adding the labels on the Austrian wines for context: The Sauvignon Blanc was 2011 E...

Re: Best wines since the beginning of 2019

Last night, I had two of the most beautiful, memorable, and impressive wines I've ever had:
1996 Giacosa Asili Riserva
1996 Salon

Number 1 and 2 for best wines of the year so far. The Asili probably takes the crown of best wine experience ever so far... flirtysmile

I tend to buy in the $40-60 range and also $120+ for longer term aging. Average is $115, but only 43 bottles so far (growing quickly, though :))

Re: Private Appointment Tasting Etiquette

The only time I haven't bought wines during a high-end private tasting was when they poured only their awful 2011s Cabs. I was thinking "you know these wines suck, I know they suck, why are you wasting both of our times?" Luckily California doesn't have too many crap vintages so this sort of experi...

Re: SF Bay Area/Peninsula OL - April 1, Divino

My favorites were the Roulot (first time I had this producer), Giacosa Rabaja (excited to have a bottle of this sleeping in the cellar), Lafon (surprisingly young, but delicious), Gerard (seemed too ripe at first, but the briney/gamey flavors came through with air), and the Knoll (biased, I like his...

I recently bought two bottles for a special occasion, the goal was to drink "epiphany bottles" since this was a splurge... I set myself a rough budget limit per bottle and then decided on the region: Piedmont and Champagne, because we love those wines and I had the experience I'm looking fo r(or clo...

I'll bring my half mag of Sauternes (03 Rieussec) to this event, seems to be better suited for this event than at a BBQ place :)

Since I don't have too many mags lying around at home and won't be able to get to storage before the OL, my "regular" bottle will be a 750.
