Your Gin?

Y'all got to check our Bar Hill gin made with Vermont juniper and honey. It is great sipping gin. Would not mix, however. Similar to Monkey. Maybe just with soda.

Is this considered a "horizontal?"

AFAIK, Verticals are 1 vineyard across many vintages. A Horizontal is a single varietal, region, or year, but all wines must have something in common. Is this correct?

Are Canadians supporting Canadian wines?

For perspective, I live in Connecticut and pay little attention to wines from Long Island or New York State. They all aren't very good and it seems futile to me. Same goes for Canada?

Tannin Descriptions

Anyone ever classify not by flavor profile of tannin, but the dryness sensation on the sides of the tongue?

What makes a wine "complex?"

I think of complex wine as deep in finish and rich in texture. More earth and tannin than anything else but with good balance. A fruit-forward "round wine" is not complex to me, while it may offer a transition on the palate. That would appear complex to the poster above, but doesn't fit as complex t...

Wine Storage

I find any basement to be just fine for storage of any duration. Some friends insist upon 55degrees, which basically equates to refrigerated. Seems like a waste of resources to me. If you're in an apartment, that poses different challenges. If not, stick it next to the cold cinderblocks downstairs.

Your Gin?

Fords Gin is great everyday drinking gin, if you are not into the premium of Hendricks or Monkey. I much prefer Fords to Bombay or similar mid-$20's 750ml bottles.

Crazy Prices for '14 Duckhorn Three Palms Merlot on WineBid

I've been around Duckhorn Merlots for many many years and it was not really that sought after. Look what a little publicity will do. Don't get caught be a sheeple.

Breville Sommelier Decanter

Decanting is overrated! I prefer to taste on fresh open, and again as the wine gets oxygen. 1hr, 1 day, etc later. Why rush it?

How to fix my Golf Club

It is my understanding that clubs are not-for-profit and thus should not by marking up wine at the rate of your typical restaurant. Clubs should be more/less passthrough for the wine as small markups for related costs.

Seven Fifty still does not include a large portion of wholesalers in CT. Beverage Media is still the go-to.

Millennials and Wine

In the same vein, but sorta not really, I think Millennials are increasingly going with spirits. Wine is in decline with young people. At least, in my experience running restaurants.

If you are going to lay the stuff down, I imagine you would much prefer the larger size. I'd ask for a refund.
