It seems to me that Napa businesses have to provide efficient transportation from less expensive neighborhoods or pay higher wages.

So in regards to the OP's question, maybe the answer is that it can't. Perhaps agricultural preserve and tourism is not a sustainable combination.

Florence is wonderful. Lots of tourists including my wife and me. So much to see. David and the Duomo are worth it alone. Get an apartment with a terrace. Schneider's has a lot of their older wines in their warehouse but they are listed online. If you buy online, you can pick it up the next day. I usually stop there on my way to the DC tastings.

Just got back from spending 2 weeks in Italy. Weather was wonderful. San gimignano is magical after dark. We went around dusk for dinner and then walked back through town after dinner. All the tour buses were long gone. Florence after dark is wonderful as well.

So far my best QPRs are Produttori Langhe Nebbiolo and La Rioja Alta Vina Alberdi.

I also like Château La Vieille Cure when I can get it around $25
For Syrah, I like Owen Roe Syrah Ex Umbris
