Re: LastBottleWines.com (Last Bottle Wines) Deal Discussion Thread

FYI to all: The Wine Spectator rating (94pts) and review and tasting note that LBW listed/marketed for the Casalvento Janus 2013 is inaccurate. The rating/note they posted was for the 2007 vintage of the same wine. The 2013 is rated 88, and the characteristics in the tasting note are much different....

I love Sojourn and buy every year. They are second behind Carlisle for most bottles in my collection. I agree that their customer service is excellent. I really like their sonoma coast pinots. Kosta Browne is (was?) made in a more modern, ripe style of pinot that was meant for early drinking. The wines you are reading about that are great at 20-30 years old are likely made in an entirely different style. On a positive note, for some reason, aged KB still gets a decent price on the seconda...

Horizontal storage makes it easier to access any bottle at any time, so that part is better for relatively small/home collections.

That wouldn’t matter as much for large #s of the same bottle, so vertical may be better in this case if the theories mentioned by OP are true.
