Re: Mark Squires' BB to close for good - UPDATED (WA sold to Michelin)

Can't say from firsthand knowledge but my understanding is that the issue is no longer a non-compete agreement. It's his physical ability to get around and to taste. He's in bad shape, can't travel, and not only will various meds screw with his taste, the alcohol isn't going to help. Sorry Greg, I ...

Older vintages of La Mouline and Brune et Blonde didn't see new oak. The earliest vintages, and in my opinion the greatest vintages of La Mouline were aged in foudres (assuming my memory is correct). The 3 LaLa´s are usually among the very best Cote-Roties you can get ... not in all vintages, but in most. Sure, if you don´t like oak-influenced Rhones they might not be for you, but the quality of terroir and winemaking is no doubt there. These two statements are contradictory. It's hard to me to...

Hi Mike,
Everyone has their trigger point... a wine critic showing up thinking they're going to tell winemakers how to make wine, then publically complaining when they're not listened to, is one of mine. Barred from tasting? Absolutely. Publically complained? Absolutely not.

The winemaker knows, and the tech sheet isn't wrong.

Actually, my note kinda sucks... it should read "Fermented in tronconique tanks and aged in one-third Burgundy barrels and the balance in barrique (20% being new), the 2015 Crozes Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert..." c'est la vie.
