Re: Online wine auction offerings becoming sparse and pricey?

I agree, there appears to be several auction houses that have increased their prices over the past few months and bottles continue to stay on the auction blocks month after month. Funny thing is several of the auction houses are off to their best start in months in terms of revenue haha

I am within that the demographic and I’d nail it down to three areas: 1) Word of Mouth (Instagram, friends) 2) Wine Searcher App 3) Critics Millennials are a tough crowd to please giving their need and speed for things to fulfill what they want there and now vs waiting for something to mature and ev...

Re: wine-searcher pro price increase

From my experience, WS has more than paid itself back on the return given the limited shipping options due to NY and prices locally I’ve found only through the app that I wouldn’t find otherwise.

Re: Problem with InstitutionWine.com

Big red flag for me was their push for buying a minimum of 3 bottles, almost as if they didn’t have the inventory and wanted enough bottles sold to generate an order to their distributors then put it as pre arrival.

JM Fine Wines slightly outside of Boston is an awesome place to visit and buy from. Family owned and they have an amazing selection of Napa Cabs if your into them for the right price.

Picked up a case of Brilliant Mistake Sauvignon Blanc locally and it’s awesome at $45. Cant beat it!

Definitely try out Celia Welch’s Rewa Sauvignon Blanc, beautiful wine!

Frank - ACME is right down the street from 750 Wines so it may be worth visiting both. Both teams are amazing in adjusting the tasting to your preferences. Also doesn’t hurt to stop by Pane Vino to get some of their solid breadsticks IMHO haha

Anyone know fedex cross country shipping routes from Southern Ca ?

I've purchased several bottles from wine retailers in LA and Southern California and they have typically taken the I-10 route through AZ and NM. From there went through Dallas to Nashville to Pittsburgh then NYC. I would highly advise against ground shipping and do 2-day if you need it now.

TN: 2011 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard

I've had the following 2011's:

Schrader Las Piedras (Once)
Colgin Tychson Hill (2x)
Realm Dr Crane (3x)

and all were very good with little time to decant. I thought last year was the window of opportunity for most of these wines in 2011 but open for discussion.

12 and 14 good and drink now, 13 hold for a bit. That's my general feeling/consensus, especially at those (lower) price points for Napa Cab

Agree with this point! Several Napa winemakers have confirmed this comment.

2014 Scarecrow Review

Only reason why I ask is because early in 2016, RP rated it 91 in the Advocate then right before release it was rated a 100 pts in 2017. Curious to see why the sudden change in heart.

Shafer Hillside Select is definitely on my radar, I've had a few of their One Point Fives Ned Valios - thanks for the note, I'll start on those wines, seems like Mark Carter is ever-evolving. I had the '96 La Jota Howell Mountain Anniversary and it was exceptional right out of the bottle, how was th...

Hi All, Looking to find some additional recommendations on big, bold Napa Cabs. I've tasted the following wines within the past year and would like to expand: - 2013 Scarecrow (WOTY in 2016 for me) - 2013 Nine Suns - 2013 Araujo Eisele (Elegant) - 2014 Carter OG - 2013 Schrader LPV - 2012 Dominus (E...
