Covid has majorly disrupted distribution channels. Fires slashed west coast production this year, which counters any surplus. There's not going to be a bubble popping. Pricing drop or not I am not spending more than $50 a bottle right now as my kids are playing sports and that is expensive. Too many good wines under that price point that work for me. I think the biggest thing would be wine finalling out of fashion. This thread is shocking to me. I thought practices like these were a thing of the past, and I drink plenty of wine around the 10€ mark. The grape used to make Mega Purple is Rubired and last year there were ~11,000 acres planted in California. that's a lot of mega purple Seriously 11k acres!

I'd guess that might be volatile acidity, not mega purple. To me, when I suspect I'm tasting it, it's the Welch's grape juice flavor. I very well could be wrong, though. Tablas Creek makes one. It’s 100% and 14.4 alc.. It’s different than most ‘dessert’ wines. Fruity and a bit sweet. Their website states a profile of key lime, lychee, chalk and tarragon.
