Re: Official Costco Thread

Was in Kona Costco yesterday and the odd label in the 2015 Ornellaia ($179) caught my eye. It was an art label and bore a “Carisma” cuvée. They only had the one bottle amidst 5 regular labels. I bought it for the novelty... They also just racked some additional 2016’s, this store has really gotten s...

Re: Layout my wine cellar

I just built a 12’x12’ to replace my 7’x18’. For the earlier I went utilitarian and got chrome racks at Costco. I fixed them to the long walls since we’re in a quake zone but left them on their casters. I trimmed them with clear Doug fir at the front and ends and let the walls seal the back. I doubl...

Aloha Ed

Whoops! I looked up the wines and you are correct.
I’ll assume my mind was in Saint Veran at that point of the night

Re: Official Costco Thread

Kailua-Kona store had a full pallet end cap today of 2014 Conn Creek Anthology @ $49.99. Nary a bottle missing, so I took one out of sympathy....I’ve loved the Right Bank Red and Reserve Cab in the past, don’t know this cuvée at all though. Also dropped a full pallet of 2013 Northstar Merlot CV for ...

Re: 2015 Shafer HSS offer

A buddy forwarded his "allocation" to a couple of us. Considered for a minute, went online to KL to check retail pricing and got sucked into an expiring auction for HSS 2008.....5 minutes later I've got two bottles reaching prime @$190 each. Provenance seemed solid and as I get older I'm losing pati...

Re: Official Costco Thread

Hawaii (Kona Store) now has the DP '08 but....at $165.99 . Same SKU, 21006. Ahhh, the price of paradise! The most interesting addition to inventory was the Guado al Tasso in OWC, 6 packs, closed case only, at $99. Not a discount, so I didn't grab one since this modern style Super Tuscan was at the s...

Sans Liege The Offering 2016

Anyone taste this vintage yet? I'd really appreciate a tasting note from someone with multiple vintage experiences. For me it's always a great crowd pleaser, and my go-to cellar defender. I've loved this Grenache dominated GSM's new world fruit with its old world spiciness. It usually has great arom...

Re: Hammell Wine Alliance

Reviving this thread rather than starting another, it's time again…my allocation was 3 TB's 750 and 1 wait list Mag. This is the last allocation based release, from this point forward it will be club based.
Loving the El Crue I picked up earlier this year, seems a solid keep on my list.

Re: TN: 2016 Kirkland Signature Series, Stags Leap District Cabernet

Have a 2016 Kirkland SLD going side by side with another Costco Twenty-bucker, 2015 R. Mondavi Napa 3rd night for each, the SLD has pulled steadily ahead after the Mondovi showed slightly better on PnP SLD has balanced and deepened, and finish has extended. Mondovi shows thinner with more astringenc...

How many allocation lists are you on?

I'm using this response as a therapy...will look long and hard at the list, hopefully recognize it as the addiction it is, and perhaps thereby begin the steps necessary to gain my release from all their releases. Cases per annum tiers 3 case + ; Tablas Creek Ridge (this one is on the shakiest ground...

Alban Offering - First Time

I was happily surprised with both the level and the availability for a first offering. I never got to more than one Jackass before i quit Martinelli....

So does Alban have more quitters than joiners?

Alban Offering - First Time

I just got an inital offering from Alban, 30 bottles worth; '13 Seymours and Lorraine, '14 Patrina and Grenache, and some '16 Viognier. I'm considering a mixed case My conflict is i was just deciding on my Bedrock order!!! I usually get about 2+ cases each offering (sometimes 3-4!) For comparative p...

ZAP Heritage Zin - 2015 Ridge version

I got an offer from Ridge due to my membership in their ATP club. It's offered at $29.75/btl for the full case price, otherwise it's $31.50 At that price it needs to surpass a bunch of fave Zins; Scherrer OMV and Bedrock, besides the other Ridge offerings like Lytton and Geyserville. I'm interested ...

ZAP Heritage Zin - 2015 Ridge version

Has anyone tasted this release? Anyone buying? There are scant few purchases of previous releases posted on Cellartracker. The 2011 release, by Scott Harvey, got the most love... The link Ridge provides to the ZAP project shows a veritable who's who of Zin producers and goes back to '97, for a viney...

Eisele ( Arujao ) Vineyard 2014

A buddy has offered his allocation of cab and syrah at cost. I note low scores the last few years from Vinuous, and a reference to a new winemaker.
I've had older Arujao from the late '90's and earlier '00's but nothing recent. Any references or tastings of the '14, particularly the syrah?

I actually prefer the Kirkland label at half the price to Yellow Label V-C. I tasted them blind in a group and the Kirkland was preferred by the majority; 7/2 Less than half the price too! However it lacks in the perception and therefore the preference of many of my guests. If they have the rose Dom...

$46
Little concerned about provenance (sitting around the distributor watehouse) but perhaps Costco does direct buys now as well?
