Hard to go wrong with Detert’s Cabernet Franc. The history, the land, quality...all there.

Another one that stays true, albeit more expensive, is Jarvis Cabernet Franc.

Egly-Ouriet’s Les Crayeres champagne is up there with the best champagnes I have each year. Can’t recommend enough! I’ll have to look for the Les Vignes de Vrigny.

Charles Heidsieck Rosé Reserve NV (‘08 base, disgorged ‘17). These Charles Heidsieck champagnes with good time between “laid in chalk” date and disgorgement date are truly fantastic, especially at the price.

Tasted with Haley at their family house back in early February. Exceptional as expected, and in line with what my typical experience has been with the wines. Beautiful purity of fruit. Wight being the standout, of course.

I actually had a ‘17 Donjon last week at a tasting. I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was at such a young age. I was actually given the bottle to take home and even after being re-corked and opened 24hrs later, it was still powering through nicely and if anything, gained more structure.

Does anyone know when their tasting room will be up and running? Last I heard, they were hoping for the new winery to be functioning around harvest of this year. Not sure if they are still on track and if a visit/tasting room option will be available shortly after.
