Pol Roger Brut NV followed by a 2005 Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Reserve. The Champagne was a pleasure to drink, brioche and cream. The Rioja has an amazing nose. Drinking very well right now

2013 Bootleg Proprietary Red - Explosive nose, lots of floral notes. Much bigger wine than I expected. Yes, I'd say fruit bomb. Not sure it will age too much but fun to drink. I noticed I had several bottles so I'll try again in a couple of years.

I agree with many listed already. I haven’t seen anyone mention Phelps Insignia or La Jota. I’ve opened bottles from the 90s recently and they were just wonderful. Occasionally you can find Insignia for under $200 and La Jota Howell Mountain Cab is definitely in that price range

1998 Ralph Fowler Shiraz. Quite jammy but I wouldn’t call it a fruit bomb. Nice red fruit. Partner loved it but I was a little disappointed. It had really short finish which I wasn’t expecting after the big nose and flavor.

Bought a bunch of 2018 Huets. I intend to purchase more Loire this year. We had a noble white tasting last year and I was surprised how much I liked Chenin and SB up against the Chards and Rieslings. Even liked Moscato!

1994 Anderson’s Conn Creek Cab. I kept reading reviews about how it was over the hill. I didn’t think so! Powerful nose, just explodes and gets better after sitting for a while. Has a very big mouth feel. I loved it and was surprised.

2001 Karlsmuhle Lorenzhofer Auslese. Beautiful golden color. So much candy!

1983 Gruaud Larose from magnum. Just sings from the glass. Even my brother who normally drinks beer at family dinners loved it. It still had the price tag of $25 when I bought it ages ago

2014 Bevan Cellars Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard. A bit over oaked for some tastes but I definitely like. A big mouth feel with lots of vanilla flavors. Substantial stone fruit to balance the oak. This would definitely age and I’d like to try again in 5 years to see if oak settles down.

1999 Dom. de la Mordoree CdP Reine Bois. A bit past prime but a nice mouthful. I have another bottle in cellar and I’ll make a note to consume soon. Had it with flank steak and went quite well with it. Keeps reinforcing that I need to drink CdP sooner.

I went 2017 Chablis shopping yesterday. Picked up Fevre’s Bougros Cotes Bougeurots and Les Clos and Michel’s Vaillons at Calvert Woodleys and then hopped over to Weygant and bought the Servin’s Foret and Vaillons.
