Re: Zoom Event - Walter Scott Wines with Erica and Ken - Saturday May 30th, 5pm PT/8pm ET

What were the tasting highlights? Will this be posted online?

I opened a 2014 WV Chard from Walter Scott. Was ~$25 from Full Pull. Good acidity, had that ‘saline’ quality, perfect balance. Amazing QPR...damn it, why did I only buy one.

Thanks,

Jeff

Re: Bedrock Late Spring Impromptu Release - April 21

My case went to offsite storage and I won’t be able to check for a few weeks. It appears the box sat on a trailer in Chicago from Friday night until Tuesday then was delivered Tuesday midday. How would I know if there is heat damage if nothing visible—open them all? Maybe I’ll get lucky and they are...

Interesting thread. I am enjoying a 2015 Wilde Farm Halcon Syrah right now. Had some nicely aged Cabot recently too. And glad to get my hands on some Madson 2017 and 2018 Ascona Syrah - good stuff. I guess I like these cool climate wines or something. Thanks to all of you enablers here.

The Sandlands team was quick to respond and able to re-route for pickup. The styrofoam was nearly obliterated and the UPS Store retaped the boxes so I could bring home. Now it’s tough to hold off. Drank some 2014s recently, all stellar.

Re: PSA--possible Flannery Berserker credit card breach?

My Chase card was compromised and used for $1 at a gas station in Decatur, GA on Sat. 2/1. Probably someone testing it out and Chase denied it and flagged it as fraud. I did not order from Flannery. Bought from several others on BD11 but it’s the card I used for most purchases not just wine.

Couldn't wait for BD11:
Briceland Syrah and various Pinot
Halcon Syrah and Mourvedre
Kelley Fox Mirabai Pinot

also, some Pax Hillside Syrah (I'm a fan of both the '16 and '17 so don't mind going for the '18).

I thought the 2016 The Beautiful Syrah and the 2016 Powerline Syrah both need time compared to their 2015 versions. To me, the 2016 vintage wines showed better the next night after vacu vin/refrigerator treatment than the first night. And the Powerline was more the red fruit/higher acid style. Same ...

Jeff,
They use two vineyards, Meredith Mitchell and Hirschy, which provides them with Pinot soley utilizing Pommard clone. So leans restrained, but there's depth and power. Some whole cluster, and no new oak.
Thanks again for the info.

Hardest part is deciding how many of each without going overboard. Though from different regions/vineyards, this reminds me I have to see what I have left from 2011, 2012 and 2013. I really enjoyed those Santa Barbara Highlands and Shake Ridge bottles back in the day.
