Can't say it's the best, nor even consistently this good every vintage, but the 2012 Hidden Ridge "55% Slope" Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon was very very good.

I've had a few Listan Negros from there and it's definitely distinctive. Sometimes they have that Etna like volcanic vibe w nice cherry, but sometimes it's a bit too sulphurous/ashphalty for me.

During LA Philharmonic playing the score of Raiders of the Lost Ark at the Hollywood Bowl

Movie was great. Orchestra was fantastic. Plumpjack was too plump. Spatburg was surprisingly good.

I liked the Matela, but see your point. have you tried Foradori Teroldego?

I liked the Casa D Gewurtz because I thought it was less characterisitcally gewurtzy than usual for the variety, and I am not a big Gewrutz fan.
