Re: The Garagiste Thread (The Great Enabler) Back to Life

Pagliarese is essentially a 2nd label, or 2nd estate of Felsina that they acquired twenty years back, but just started bottling in modern form in 2015. Just to the north of them in, still in Berardenga. Native varietals only and classically styled. Should be at a good price point and a lovely chianti.

I nearly bought some 2014 on Winebid last week, but got scared off by the inconsistent reviews. Even at the discounted $30 (+ fees) a bottle I wasn’t throwing my hat in the ring. Many other consistent whites from etna to purchase before thinking about touching that.

Very, very entertaining read. Thanks for sharing.

I find orange wine can be compelling — sometimes poorly made, but almost always interesting. The pretension surrounding orange wine is not necessarily different than the pretension abounding in other wine fandoms.

I would ask $35 for six bottles and $60 for a full case. If it's more, I'll eat the cost - less and I'll refund you.

I am a big fan of a taste (1-2 oz) then typically a double decant. Depending on the taste I may leave it decanted for 30 minutes to several hours. Rinse the bottle of sediment and pour back in until service. I’m astounded at the number of people that don’t double decant older wines, particularly old...

Re: A question for those in tasting groups or do different parts of a bottle taste different?

A solution may be that all members double decant their wine (before coming within a predetermined time range or on-site, out of sight) so that the chance of sediment towards the bottom (last pours) is removed. This may also help "homogenize" the wine and ensure that everyone is tasting the same bott...
