I used to stay in the quarter at the penthouse of the Royal Street Inn. It was inexpensive (~$120/nt) and most NOLA places were easily accessible by foot.

When I worked at a wine/gourmet shop here in Louisiana, we had several frozen drink machines. I discovered that 7-Up worked magically at correcting a Margarita that was either too alcoholic or had too much tart sweetness.

Clyde, I have had a handful of Juan Gil wines, and a friend of mine had the opportunity to tour their winery a couple of years ago.

For the money, they do make some good stuff - the one you shared above is probably the best of the line up.

I recently tried a wine from Dylan's Ghost (made by Aaron Pott) sourced from the Del Barba vineyard. It was really nice (TNs below) but I was surprised to see Cabernet Franc mentioned in the varietal list. I was unaware CF was planted in Del Barba. So many of the smaller New World producers are featured in the Brumaire tastings that I want to try. I am especially happy to see Mendo & San Benito vineyards highlighted by such a diverse group of winemakers.
