For me its Zinfandel and it's not even close. So many producers crafting well structured, fairly age-worthy zin/field blends at a fraction of the price point that other varietals command at similar quality levels.

Not to mention the fact that they're freaking delicious

The library offer icon was a 1994 and 100% syrah. It is labeled "Icon sonoma valley 1994 red table wine 13.6% alc", the back label denotes the 100% syrah. Huh. Excellent notes as always Tom. Andrew Johnstone was generous enough to pop an 11 Lachryma Montis a couple months ago and we were both blown away. Going to try and save the couple bottles I have for a long time.

Yep, totally agree with this. Frank's block is an outstanding zin.

Palisades Petite Sirah is no slouch either. 14 is drinking surprisingly well but will definitely hold for a long time.

I have never even heard of the area where the grapes seems to originate, mokelumne river which is kind of close to Sacramento, I think. Appreciate all the feedback on the winery. Scooped up a 3L of the 2013 from Costco for like $100 (cant remember exactly).

No idea when I'll open that....but a total impulse purchase, much like the 3-packs of beef jerky they give samples of right by the checkout lines.

You'd dig it buddy. No disrespect to D&R or Sandlands as I love what both Hardy and Teagan do with the grape.....but this is the best domestic Mataro I've had this year. 2nd glass has evolved even more with a kinda sappy note that I'm enjoying. Really, really impressive.
