For reds I think definitely Oregon in that price range. There are a (very) few good red burgundies under $30 (assuming US retail pricing) but there are quite a few really good Oregon Pinot Noirs at under 30 even under 20. I found the Et Fille ‘14 Maresh to be stunning. I believe it’s still available too. It was difficult for me to find many Oregon ‘14’s that I liked. Goodfellow being my favorite producer of the vintage.

I used to be at PWS. I personally prefer WWS for their community of wine enthusiasts. Every Wednesday is a themed social and there are plenty of informal gatherings. Yes, there is a lounge.

Agree 100% with Scott. The ‘15’s I’ve had show enough acidity to last w/ the producers above. If they make a restrained style in 14 or 15, I think you can trust any other vintage from that producer.

I recently visited Jacqueline in SE. The $12/Dzn happy hour oysters drew us in and were great, but the highlight was the tasting menu. Well prepared, creative and fresh. 7 courses $55. I don’t know of another place where you get tuna, smoked cod, halibut and scallops in one meal.

Ma(I)sonry in Yountville gives you access to several small wineries in one sitting. Different concept, but my experience was great. You described what you are looking for (palate and price) and they give you several samples to try. The guy that helped me was spot on.
