Re: At What Age Did You Start Cooking?

I was helping my mom cook when I was very young. I was so small that I would sit on the counter. I’d help measure things. It’s possible that’s my earliest memory. I started making eggs by myself when I was five or six. Cookies shortly after that.

Andrew, So much here to consider. Kind of overwhelming. I think you could literally do a 3-4 week tour of Texas alone. Especially when you start factoring in environmental factors for lack of a better term. For instance, let's take Franklin's and Snow's. One in Austin, one not far from Austin. Both...

I did a week in Texas with my family in March with the main purpose to eat BBQ. There’s a thread somewhere around here with lots of info. After a week I was ready for detox so maybe keep that in mind. I’d say the must-visit places for me would be 1) Snows (best ribs in my life) 2) Franklin (best bri...

When I was first getting into wine I was very open to trying anything. I bought a bottle of Pinot Noir from Romania. Horrific. The folks saying Meomi make me chuckle. That’s a walk in the park in comparison.

Yes. Only a short 75 minute drive from Ridge. Worth considering, it that makes any logistical sense. I do have the whole day to burn. Is this a case where Google maps significantly understates the drive time? I haven't been up in those hills in about 10 years. IIRC, the last time I think I was equi...

I second Mr. Kolin’s recommendation. Once you have homemade corned beef, you can’t go back. Homemade mustard on top of that is “last meal” worthy.

Basically averaging bottle prices and ignoring consumption. A bottle of Romanee Conti has huge impact on pricing, while a high consumption wine like Yellowtail has mathematically very little.
And Yellowtail probably sells more wine in the US than France.
